How to Open Your Mind (cause it’s great)

So I’ve been hustling very hard for the last few weeks.

Ever since my half-yearly results came out, I seem to have subconsciously committed to being the best possible version of myself in all aspects of my life. Part of this commitment has to do with the fact that I feel pretty guilty about my performance in my midterms. Now, I acknowledge the fact that I got 98%, highest in my class, etc etc, and that I really should stop complaining about my grade. But it kind of sucks when you lose marks when you forget to draw the arrows on a graph, and you know you could have prevented that if you had just paid a little more attention! By the way, I believe that this is a problem that many students face, and if you believe this is true (or if you are one such student yourself), leave a like or a comment.

After the intense weeks of exams and during my vacations, I came to the conclusion that what was wrong wasn’t necessarily the fact that I didn’t understand key concepts at school. It was that I had trouble focusing intensely and I often overlooked things, either due to anxiety or absentmindedness. I freely admit that it’s often the latter. But what can I do?

A philosophical daydreamer like me, who has nothing better to do than stay within the confines of her vast garden of introspection, wouldn’t even think about wanting to get dirty meddling with alien thoughts.

Either way, ever since then, I have done everything in my power to make myself a more calm, composed, and focused in life while also doing all the weird stuff that I normally do. And nothing I did was a radically new idea. I just made little shifts in my life to make myself more productive and more connected to the real world. Believe me when I say that little changes can make HUGE differences in the long run.

Here’s what I did to open my mind:

Read the news. From everywhere.

Clear your agendas on the weekends.

Make the most of YouTube.

Absolutely DEVOUR books!

Try something you hate.

Do the opposite of what your mind tells you.
